Acer Aspire 5 Review: A $549 Laptop that doesn’t completely suck. The acer aspire 5 is a very effective laptop as it carries a heavy share of tabs and apps without having to burn itself up. And in all, it is a laptop of $549 that does not suck completely.
The aspire 5 model has got a 4-core Intel Core i5-1035G1, which is the same budget as well as the midrange oriented processor that powers the Surface Laptop Go of Microsoft. When talking about the performance, Acer Aspire 5 gets the job well done.
However, the battery of the laptop is so disastrous, also, its integrated graphics are behind the times at this point.
Well, i will advise that once you lay your hands on any, try to purchase the AMD model together with a six-core AMD Ryzen 5 4500U for the same price.
The Pros and Cons of the Laptop
The great advantages of the Acer Aspire 5 is that it is very affordable, it has a great audio, a comfortable backlit keyboard, and a good port selection.
Whereas, the disadvantages of the acer aspire 5 laptop is that it feels like a budget laptop, and bloatware. Also, it has a bad battery life, and an off-center touchpad.
Acer Aspire 5 Review
Talking about the design, which is the same thung across the two models. I think the Acer Aspire 5 looks fine – it is no Dell XPS. However, it is too very much respectable from all angles. The Acer Aspire 5 comes in few colors not excluding black and silver.
Most of the laptop design is plastic, however the top cover is aluminium. There is some flex in the screen as well as the keyboard, however, not so much that i pondered on concerning snapping it in half. The laptop is not ultraportable nor too clunky, it weighs 3.7 pounds (1.8 kg) and measures 14.3 x 9.9 x 0.7 inches.
Also, students should take note that while the acer aspire 5 isnt so terribly heavy, its breadth makes it a little bit of a chore to suit in a standard-sized backpack together with a pile of books and biders.
The Acer Apire 5 has a briiiliant center hinge together with Apire printed over it, which is a little bit of flair. Though, the bezels are a little bit large and has this plastic look. The one at the top is especially hefty.
Acer Aspire 5 Specs
Below are the specs of the acer aspire 5:
- Intel Core i5-1035G1 (1.0 GHz with turbo boost up to 3.6 GHz)

- Color option: Pure Silver
- Price: $549.99
The power of such huge chassis, though, is that there is space for an important port selection. In total, we have 1 USB 3.1 Type-C Gen 1, 2 USB 3.1 Gen 1, 1 USB 2.0, 1 HDMI 2.0, 1 Ethernet, together with a power port.
That’s extensive, though you will need to search elsewhere if you are looking for Thunderbolt support, a very typical exclusion in this price range.
The display is a little bit of a dud on paper. It maxes out at 220 nits of brightness. Those are both mediocre as the screen of laptop go. Though, theyy are not so bad for the category. Talking about the color, the Aspire scored a little bit better than the IPS panel on the Swift 3, together with the Asus VivoBook 15.
