As the company is currently facing an executive order from the Trump administration that says it will prevent people from having to download the app. Starting from the 20th of September, which is tomorrow.

The latest order was being announced by the Department of Commerce in the morning on Friday. Also, it states importantly that people are not permitted to download TikTok. Vanessa Pappas’ appeal was in form of a reply to Adam Mosseri’s tweet on Twitter. Adam Mosseri is the head of Instagram. And he mentioned in his tweet that a ‘US TikTok ban would be quite bad. For Instagram, Facebook, and the internet more broadly”.

Tik Tok CEO, Vanessa Pappas also included that it is time “to put aside our competition and focus on core principles. Like freedom of expression and due process of law”. Vannessa’s action came at that moment when rumors had it that the co-founder of Instagram. Kevin Systrom will replace the currently departed CEO of TikTok, Kevin Mayer.

The Trump Administration to TikTok

Earlier this year, the Trump administration called for a ban on TikTok because of the concerns of data security. The administration wants ByteDance to sell its US operations by September 15th. To an American company else a ban will be completely placed on TikTok.

Of recent, the ByteDance and the administration are reported to be working together with Oracle to secure an agreement. TikTok also issued a lawsuit against President Donald Trump in August. Disagreeing that the original orders of Trump provide no proof that TikTok is a national security menace to the United States. Among the rest things.

TikTok made a statement according to the order of the Department of Commerce. Observing that the company already has “committed to unprecedented levels of additional transparency. As well as accountability well beyond what other apps are willing to do”.

This statement includes that the company is making plans already to work together with an American tech provider. And which of course would “be responsible for maintaining and operating the TikTok network in the US. This would include all services and data serving US consumers”.

The company further mentioned:

“We will continue to challenge the unjust executive order. Which was enacted without due process and threatens to deprive the American people and small businesses across the US. Of a significant platform for both a voice and livelihoods”.
